Song of Solomon 6:4-10  Triumphant Bride

The Bride has finished the season of testing and Jesus poetically describes who she is as the triumphant bride~ one who did not give up; did not give in; did not compromise, but stayed true to her beloved.  Jesus' heart is deeply moved by our steady love for HIm.  Our greatest glory is that we can move God's heart.

Before Jesus breaks His silence, her resolve is set:  She says to the maidens "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine..."  (verse 3).

Then, Jesus praises her beauty and reveals what He was feeling about her during her time of testing.  She has matured in love for her beloved.

Our love for Jesus in the midst of testing is more precious to Him than we understand.  In this age we will never understand the fullness of the impact that we have on Jesus' heart.

Augustine said that the only praise to be desired and the only praise that is true is the praise that comes from God.

Jesus praises the bride in  7 areas.  She has become the mature bride.

Let these be confessions of your heart declaring your position and commitment.  Jesus is worth it:

"You are as beautiful as Tirzah, my darling, as lovely as Jerusalem, as majestic as troops with banners."  SoS 6:4
  • Tirzah speaks of her beauty; the natural beauty that affects even unbelievers.  Tirzah was one of the most attractive cities in the ancient world.  Tirzah means "beautiful".
  • Jerusalem speaks of her beauty to believers.  Jerusalem is the spiritual capital of Israel.  It was the city chosen by God for the building of Solomon's temple.  God ordained the city as His worship center for the whole world.
  • The Bride being as beautiful as Tirzah & Jerusalem refers to her impact on believers and unbelievers.
  • An army with banners is an army that has had victory in battle!  A defeated army lost their banners.  She defeated her greatest enemies~ those in her heart.  In the bride's time of testing, she didn't draw back, but was victorious.  She gained the victory over her own heart!
"Who is this who appears like the dawn, fair as the moon, bright as the sun,  majestic as the stars in procession?"
  • She is compared to the dawn; after the long night, the sunlight of the morning shines forth with HOPE on the horizon. The Bride has an impact on individuals and society bringing forth the light.  Jesus called us the light to the world (Matthew 5); we appear like the dawn, releasing hope.
  • The moon speaks to the reflection of the true light, Jesus.  We reflect His  likeness in the world; evangelism and transformation of our culture are highlighted in this aspect of the Bride. The mature Bride (church) is a source of God's light in a fallen world.
  • Jesus is the "sun" in the eternal city (Revelation 21:23, "The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it.  The Lamb is its light.")  Jesus is the light of the world~ literally! The Bride will reflect the glory of Jesus' light~ this is speaking to ministry of the Bride in the age to come.  The Bride (church) will reflect God's light in the New Jerusalem as co-heir of the eternal city.  We will express His glory forever!!!!!!!!!
  • NASB reads, "...you are awesome as an army with banners"  (vs 10):  The Bride will rule in the governmental administration of Jesus' Kingdom forever!  Here the Holy Spirit emphasizes her victory over all powers.  She is like God's army with government over all things.

IT IS WORTH IT TO STAY TRUE TO JESUS!

The young women (believers) are so moved by the Bride, that they cry out to her to stay:  "Come back, come back, O Shulammite; come back, come back that we may gaze on you!"  SoS 6:13

When our heart is given fully over to King Jesus in maturity of love...we can endure anything.  Where else would we go?  Make this your confession:  All to you, I surrender.  Everything, every part of me.  YOUR LOVE MAKES IT WORTH IT ALL!!!!
