40 Days through the Gospel of John

The pivotal point of history and the climax of the  greatest  LOVE STORY is the cross of Jesus Christ.  


During this 40 day season, which the Church calls Lent, we focus our hearts upon the greatest  display of LOVE mankind has known.  


Beginning Wednesday, March 5th, join me on a 40 day journey through the Gospel of John.  John, one of Jesus' disciples writes his account of Jesus' life and ministry.  I chose the book of John as the focus because of 2 reasons:

1. John received revelation into the heart of God and had insight into His love for mankind.  John deeply loved Jesus.  He often writes of himself, "the disciple whom Jesus loved".  This is not a boasting statement~ it was heartfelt.  John knew that Jesus loved him.  He had understanding of that truth.  What a profound reality.  
   
2. The goal of the Gospel of John is to form belief in our hearts.  John uses the verb "believe" 99 times.  Matthew & Mark use it 10 times, and Luke uses it 9 times.  John wants readers to BELIEVE (to be persuaded; to place confidence in; to trust; rely upon).  

As you read through this Gospel, may you experience the love of God.   "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God,"  I John 3:1
