![]() When my girls were young, they wanted a butterfly garden. I knew that there were certain plants that would attract butterflies~ the girls wanted to see butterflies all over our yard, so I went on a search. The garden center showed me how to plan a garden: planting purple cone flowers, peonies, hollyhocks, petunias, butterfly weed, etc and placing a nectar feeder. All this to attract butterflies! When creating a butterfly garden, you plan your garden to attract, retain and encourage butterfly populations. You want it to be a place for adult butterflies and caterpillars too~ so sheltered areas where eggs can be laid and hatched will encourage the butterflies to make this a place of habitation. A butterfly garden doesn't just happen, you must be intentional to create a habitat that encourages butterflies to come. ![]() I was sitting in the prayer room several weeks ago and the Lord reminded me of the butterfly garden that I planned for the girls years ago. That's as far as I got~ planning. It was a lot of work to create a habitat for butterflies so I purchased a few purple cone flowers and that was it. {I did buy the girls a butterfly kit (so we got caterpillars and watched them grow & released them when they came out of their cocoon. That was cool and satisfied their curiosity of the butterfly.} The question the Lord asked me was this: What do you want to attract? What does the "habitat" you are cultivating attract? Just as the butterfly garden does not just happen, neither does God's Presence just fall because we desire it or even study how to do get Him to come. We need to have a plan and put it into action to cultivate an atmosphere that attracts heaven! The definition of a habitat is "the natural home or environment of an animal or plant". I want the atmosphere of my home to be intentionally cultivated to create a habitat for the Lord to say, "This looks a lot like home. I'm so comfortable here." Isaiah 66:2 says this,"Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting place be?"
